Boat Build Week 4

Week 4 has seen the welding almost completed, with just a few finishing touches to go.

The front doors are fitted.

The Bow is complete with the T Stud and anodes welded in to place.

The Pole and Plank Holder and centre mooring ring are now in place on the roof.

Engine room.

Also this week I have spoken to the sign writer and agreed the style of the lettering.

Unfortunately we won't be able to view Hobbit until the 5th September as it's time for us to embark on our annual pilgrimage to warmer climes, in fact it's very likely that Hobbit will be all but complete by then.

Boat Build Week 3

It’s the end of the 3rd week of Hobbit’s build and there has been some good progress.

The Cabin sides and roof are now fitted, and the port holes have been cut out.

The engine room looks to be complete and the diesel tank has been tested and fitted.

This week has also seen us set a date for the launch (September 11th). Arrange the insurance, which is unbelievable value for money and set up an account with CRT in readiness for obtaining a licence.

Can’t wait to see what next week brings.

Boat Build Week 2

Boat build week 2.

Well it’s the end of the second full week of the build, and Hobbit is progressing at a very impressive rate.

The bow deck and lockers have been welded in to place.

The stern is coming on nicely, with the engine bay looking almost ready to receive the Beta 16.

We weren't alone on this visit, as Peter (son and Heir) and my parents came along to see Hobbit for the first time.

All being well the welding and fabrication should be completed by the end of the week, and then Hobbit will be moved in to the fitting out area.
